Description
This 1973 Citroen DS23 Pallas is a Euro-spec model powered by a fuel-injected 2,347cc inline-four paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and finished in Mist Blue over a black leather interior. The car was imported to the US by one of the previous owner’s grandfather prior to 2012. Notable recent work includes a repaint, reupholstered interior, and service to the hydraulic and mechanical systems. The car was reportedly featured in the Netflix movie Anon while with the previous owner, from whom the selling dealer acquired it six months ago. This DS23 is offered with recent records and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.
The DS was built for nearly 20 years, and this example comes from the second to last year of production. The Mist Blue repaint encompassed the jambs, inner wheel wells, trunk, and underside of the hood and deck lid.
Unlike its US-market counterpart, the European DS came equipped with tracking headlamps which articulate with the steering and are mounted behind Cibie lenses. Factory wheels wear a set of Pallas covers and are wrapped in 185-series Vredestein Sprint tires.
The Pallas interior was the range-topping trim level offered for the DS and featured better noise insulation, thicker door panels, and higher quality carpet as well as adjustable front headrests and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. New black leather seat covers, replacement door panels and carpet, reupholstered package tray, and trunk upholstery were installed four years ago. A modern stereo resides in glove box and features a remote.
The single-spoke steering was designed to help provide an unobstructed view of the instrument cluster. Warning lamps are displayed on the left-most gauge, with the speedometer center and a tachometer on the right. Noted interior issues include a leaky heater valve, which has been disconnected, though a new one is included with the sale. Just under 15k kilometers (~9k miles) are shown on the 5-digit odometer, approximately 300 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 2,347cc inline-four came equipped with optional Bosch fuel injection and was factory-rated at 124 SAE horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox.
A dual-circuit brake system works in conjunction with the hydropneumatic suspension and utilizes inboard-mounted front discs and rear drums. The brake accumulator was rebuilt approximately five months ago. A driving video is shown below:
