This 1923 H.C.S. (Henry Clayton Stutz) Touring Car, #3092, was purchased at the Christie’s auction of the A.K. Miller collection on September 7, 1996. It was lot #022. At the time of purchase this H.C.S. was amazingly complete. Frame off restoration of the automobile began soon after purchase and was completed in 2009. The car retains the original leather on the back of the front seat and on all of the rear seat and rear panels . There was no rust through the body panels and most of the hardware is original. The engine was was disassembled, inspected and restored to true working order. The cylinder head was surfaced and new valves were made . This H.C.S. has won the Stowe Antique & Classic show twice. It was invited to the Celebration of Automobiles in Indianapolis May 10th, 2014, and took third in class (Class B - American Classic Open) there. A true one-of-a-kind automobile with a historic collection pedigree, it is believed that this car is one of only two running complete H.C.S. 6 cylinder touring cars known to exist.
