First Place in Class at Tucson Classics Car Show
A dozen or so Tucson Region members were signed up to display their cars at the 9th Annual Tucson Classics Car Show at The Gregory School on Oct 17. The forecast for Saturday was for a 60% chance of rain and in fact, most areas of the city got rain on Friday night. All but two members, Wayne Gould and Carl Frers, decided to keep their cars out of the weather. This is always a tough decision for a car owner to make, especially after the registration fee has already been paid. However, the high quality of the restorations and amount of money invested in them, usually dictates that the cars stay in the garage. The show went on as scheduled and as it turned out, the day was beautiful. The only wet spots on the field were at the pavement to grass transitions and those were covered with plywood. Hopefully, our next outing won’t be influenced by the weather.
Wayne’s decision to attend paid off as his ’48 Packard Woody was awarded First Place in Class and his ’55 Packard Caribbean took a second place.
The show went on as scheduled and as it turned out, the day was beautiful with over 400 cars on display.
